H began swimming lessons this past week. The first day she was terrified to even get in the water! Most of the other kids were in the water holding onto the wall, but she would only get in if one of the teachers were working with her. But at the end she came up with a big smile and said she had fun. The next day she stayed in the water holding onto the wall. She was nervous about doing some of the things, but by the end of the week she was much braver- even smiling and laughing and making friends. It is through our local community college and the teachers are just wonderful. She was so leary and they worked so well with her! She has lessons this week and then she is finished. There are swimmers of all different kinds- from ages three and up. Some know how to swim and some don't. I hope to get her in them again next year so she can continue to learn. I barely know how to swim and I hate going in water above my head. I would love for my children to know how to swim pretty well- unlike their mother. Here are some pictures. And H has a surprise for you all...stay tuned!

We just looked into getting Girly into swimming lessons too. The thing that stinks though is that they don't have an indoor pool here. So I guess we'll be lathering up!!! She looks like she is having fun!
Did H get her hair cut? It looks kinda short in a couple of her pictures. :) And no, I didn't talk to your mom if she did get it cut, I just guessed that might be the suprise.
My mom sent us up to Finlandia (when it was Soumi) for swimming lessons. They are a very good investment, I can swim good. Our boys will get swimming lessons for sure.
Hannah I am glad that you took those lessons. I know you became braver each time you went and found out that it is not so hard after all. Maybe next summer if you come this way or vice versa I will go swimming with you and can show you more. I love swimming and now that we are home with the weather being hot pappa and I can go swimming. Remember that when you take a bath you put your head in the water and you can do it in a pool too, it is the same with only a different amount of water.
