That was the song I sang in my dream last night! That thought keeps floating through my head though! It is a bit 'farmy' like North Dakota, but unlike ND there are cities here with things to do! That makes a huge difference! And it makes me not quite mind the farms;) Ask me come January when I'm freezing cold though, and we'll see how much I like it! Oh, and when you pass a semi filled with pigs be sure and block your nose. Cuddly Boy was gagging terribly and had tears in his eyes that I couldn't help but laugh!
The other night we ate at Okoboji Grill. I wasn't sure what it was when we passed it- it sounded like a Chinese place. I was craving steaks and baked potatoes but I said lets try it. I was not disappointed and it wasn't Chinese. I was able to satisfy my craving! The waitress was so super friendly! I don't see that much where we live and it was wonderful to have such good service. It will be somewhere we will eat at again (thankfully there's one in Ankeny).
We've frequented Panchero's twice now! I don't think its as good as Moe's, but it is good. Today we tried Taco Johns (must be on a Mexican kick). I was not disappointed. Those hash browns were delicious!!! I've been one happy pregnant lady lately when it comes to food;) Zach even went and got me an Oreo Blizzard from DQ last night (we don't have a DQ near us).
Besides food there seems like there is a lot to do here (being pregnant food is a frequent thought). On our way to Des Moines we passed a sign for Living History Farms. It looks SO cool and you can bet we will go there!!! It seems like there will be a lot to do for field trips and such (a zoo, science center, etc). There are so many parks and walking trails in the different cities- it is really neat.
This morning we went to Des Moines and picked out the color of our siding, roof, door, floors, counters, etc. It was so much fun to do! Zach didn't really care too much, of course, though he did help with some decisions! I can't wait to see it all put together! Today they're already supposed to pour the cement for the flooring so they're getting underway! We'll have to drive by tomorrow and take a picture of where they're at.

I'm glad you had a successful trip!
Was the song in your head from Annie? I just spent way too many minutes running that in my head trying to remember where it was from.
Yes, Amie from Annie!!!
HEY -- I was in Des Moines today too. (That's the big city for me) Ü
That smell of hogs -- that's the smell of money, honey. LOL (Just kidding... it stinks!) Did anyone tell you we have more hogs than people in Iowa? no... well -- it's true. Sad but true. LOL
You can get a neat pass to the zoo, science center and... where else?? Get a family pass thing to all three places and save a TON of money. The Science Center is new and it's better then it used to be.
The living history farms IS neat. My kiddos just went there for a homeschool field trip with our co-op. COOL! Learned a lot.
AND -- if you go... eat at the restaurant right there. It is OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious down on the farm home cooking food. Fantabulous!
We went to the botanical center today... don't waste your $$ on it... just wait until EARTH DAY next year then go for free. It's interesting... but only if it's free. LOL
So glad you are enjoying your time here.
We also went to LOWES and TARGET while in the big city... right there in Altoona is LOWES, MENARDS, TARGET right together. Applebees too... we like that highway 65. It takes you around Des Moines quickly.
OK -- enough blabbing.. I've gotta cook supper. I know -- it's later... on well... I'm coming down off of a visit to Des Moines and chat with my friend high. Ü Back to real life.
Jamie, that's awesome about the house! I'm glad you found something you like.
It looks like you got a lot accomplished on your trip! Great! :)
We don't have much that's close to here to do as far as field trips...we haven't been to our zoo yet though but from driving by it on a daily basis and the kids seeing the camels everytime we drive by, I'm sure we've seen the most exciting part of the whole thing from the street! LOL
We have Taco John's too - bob was glad to get back to SD because they didn't have it in either MI or IN and it's one of his favorites - I like the potato oles and the churro's but that's about it. I got sick the last time we ate there - and so did my FIL - so I don't eat there anymore. :P
LOL, I like your describing what is to eat around there. I don't even need to be pregnant to appreciate that....I just love to eat:-)
It's weird when we lived in Lansing, I LOVED Panchero's. However now that they are more franchised I don't like them at all.
Yay for having a good time. Panchero's seems a lot like Chipotle. What colors did you pick out for your siding and roof???
Wow, sounds like you're going to have a good move. Was it hard to come back to Mississippi? When we went to San Antonio, househunting, and saw all that the area had to offer, it was like torture coming back!!
