This is why I didn't want my youngest to start getting vaccinated (and didn't want the other two to continue with them). I'm sure there's a more informative article than this but I don't have the time or energy to look right now. I'm just so frustrated that I caved in!

Amen sister!! What really irks me is that all the FINANCIAL sites reported this first! Obviously what really matters is the bottom line!
Sorry if this is a duplicate, Blogger hiccuped the first time I tried to post.
Here is a little more info:

Well we all know stuff like this happens allot. It wont stop me from getting my kids vaccinated, just like all these toy recalls wont stop me from buying my kids any toys. And getting vaccinated is way more important then toys (even though they have way to many and God knows they don't need anymore! lol)
It sounds like it was an issue with what temperature and/or how long the equipment was sterilized for. If the equipment wasn't actually sterilized the sublots would have shown contaimination in their samples (which need to be done at multiple points in the vaccine production process). When I made a vaccine we pretty much had to go overkill on the sterilization process (which you did after you scrub the crap out of the tanks which caustic bacteria killing stuff). I think we got dinged once on a similar issue, it reached the sterilization point for the right amount of time....but it didn't hit the higher temperature we were supposed to hit. We ran the sterilization overnight and no one noticed that the temperature dipped. Sorry to be all technical but I don't think people realize how ridged vaccine production can actually be, also how seriously those making the vaccines take their jobs. Although recalls may make it seem like its done willy nilly.
If you kids had already received the vaccine and had no reaction they are safe. It just sounds like they are doing the recall to be better safe than sorry. As far as not wanting to them to get vaccines I think its every parents right to make that choice and don't think there is anything harmful in that decision whatsoever.
I think I'm on the other side of the fence from you. If people didn't vaccinate we'd still be facing horrific diseases like polio.
