Probably the strangest book I ever read...

Was House by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. It held my attention and it was good but I kept wondering what was really going on! Zach said all of their books are like that. It was pretty wild and crazy. I'm hoping to have read 20 books by the time we leave this place...I just finished #18! I've got so many sitting on the bookshelf waiting to be read and now its a matter of choosing which one to go with. Which do I choose first: Girl With A Pearl Earring, The Memory Keeper's Daughter, or Two Little Girls (A Memoir of Adoption)?

CHOICES~! I am not sure which one I would pick...probably the fiction as I am really avoiding anything too serious right now.

Hey there, when I tried to answer your invitation to your blog, the page came up in Japanese! I had to go to another page, scroll down and select "English",hmmmm. ;-) I'm sure that won't be the last time something like that happens while we're here.

Okay, onto the subject you were discussing.............I had to jump to the end of "House" because it got too freaky for me--------and I used to read Stephen King! I have enjoyed some of the other Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti books, though.

"The Memory Keeper's Daughter" would be my choice out of the three you are thinking of; for some reason, the title just calls out to me.

Are these books from the Paperback Swap, or do you also belong to another book "program". I'm asking because I don't know what the situation w/CHRISTian books will be at the base library here.

Be blessed, Jamie!

I read House too, it was good, but I think it was too weird for me. Ted Dekker's other books are really good though, I recommend them! Or if you are looking for new books (though it sounds like you have a some available!) one of my favorites is the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson.

Memory Keepers daughter was really good. The crazy part from what I understand, it was partially based on a real story. I think the author goes into that at the end. Its one of those books you just want to scream at the one of the characters to get with it.
I don't know about the other 2 books. I do like period pieces like Pearl Earing.

Tough call. I think my emotions would go into overdrive reading the Memory Keeper's Daughter, but that is the one I would probably read.

I've read both the Memory Keeper's Daughter and Girl with a Pearl Earring. They are very different. Girl With a Pearl Earring is probably "easier" reading & more predictable. The Memory Keeper's Daughter was not what I expected, but sure did hold my attention. Have you read "Annie & Me" or Me & Annie" That is one of the strangest I have read. I wanted to just scream when I finished reading it, and my friend Yancy had another one she was reading& wouldn't hurry fast enough for me, because I wanted to talk about it so bad!! I did not see the end coming--and was glad she didn't see it coming either!!

I got logged in, Jamie!!

I read House and hated it! I have read his previous books and this one and Monster went right down the pooper! I don't even hardly see any spiritual parallels in it. If you want to read classic Peretti, read his first ones - Piercing the Darkness and This Present Darkness. I loved them both. Even the next few that he wrote were good - I just didn't like House and Monster - but I couldn't put them down either! I just had to finish it because I had NO idea where they were going!

As for what to read next...I liked Girl with a Pearl Earring but haven't read the other two. :)
