Stresses of Moving

I was so excited to move but its looking less and less exciting right now. I've been in touch with a Pastor & his wife of a family-integrated church in the area and that is about the only positive thing right now! He did recommend a realtor so we've been in touch with him but with Zach's BAH rate I don't think we'll get much of a house. I'm trying to be content in what we can afford, but I don't want to live in a dump or something that is really small and won't accommodate our growing family. I'm to the point where I just want to find a nice rental! Also, we don't have money to put down on a house. We have money in savings but that is for our adoption and I don't want to touch it! It is meant for a child, not a measly house! So please pray that the Lord opens the door as to what we should do as far as a house goes.

The other thing is doctors. After Rebecca posted about a book she read I've been thinking about how I really need to find an OB! The hospital in that area looks and sounds nice, but my question was whether they do VBACs. Princess was a c-section but the boys were successful VBACs. There's no way that I will get another c-section unless it is absolutely necessary! I talked to a nurse and she said they're discussing whether to continue with VBACs at that hospital. Great. I contacted a midwife clinic but it is 1/2 hour away from Ames. The lady was so nice and helpful. She does hospital births. I can't find information anywhere on whether homebirth is legal in the state or on lay midwives or anything. And I know my family is going to freak when they read this all. Now I need to start educating myself, so if you know of good birthing books or books on homebirth let me know (although my library has NOTHING). So if you have some and you'd be willing to let me borrow them I'd also be interested in that.

So many unknown things. I know they'll all work out but everything seems so uncertain at this point. I just want a normal birth and I want to live in a decent home!

Isn't it crazy that VBACs are illegal in some states?? That just astounds me.

I know somebody who just had a homebirth in Iowa. I don't know what area though.

I know someone who had a homebirth too. I think it is awesome. I was almost going to do that with Grace, but chickened out! LOL My midwife delivers at the hospital so that was nice. If you can do a homebirth that would be cool!

It will all work out with God in the mix. He does not make mistakes! Each time we move I am bumbarded with the feelings of where we will move, the HS group etc. But all 5 times we have moved so far - even with loosing all in Hurricane Katrina - HE has put us in a place of peace and blessing! God is our refuge!

I bet you would love a homebirth I hope it can work out for you. After Daniel I wasn't to sure about the whole homebirth thing. However when I was expecting Matthew, I became sold on the idea of a homebirth. I loved my hospital, but I wanted nothing more than to be at home. Also I bet if I had a midwife I would have had a VBAC...but I wasn't upset by a second C-section (though I can understand why other woman want nothing other than a VBAC).

It actually sounds like things are more certain than you may realize, then again I have been living with moving uncertainty for 2 years, right now anything else looks easier;-)

You are so brave! I would freak out to have a homebirth! Though I would love to be more in control I would be afraid that something would happen to the baby and then I'd feel guilty if I wasn't at the hospital to get the help that they needed. But that's me...I'm just a chicken! LOL

I hope everything works out for you guys in the end and you get the home and birth that you are looking for! :)

Oh, and when I had Jozie I lived 45 min. from the hospital so a half an hour away for a midwife doesn't seem that bad...you've just been spoiled by living in a "big city" when you had your other babies! LOL Now you have to adjust to living in Small Town America! :)

Jamie - I echo Risa....30 minutes is not bad!

Here's a link to a site I thought might interest you (plus another that looks worth checking into):

I am really surprised that having a VBAC has become this big forbidden ordeal. When I had Dean, in Washington, I was TOLD that I was having a VBAC, and that was the end of it (I'm grateful that I did)........................

I'm praying for you regarding your housing issue, the birth of your baby, and all the other moving stress.

GOD cares about every single thing, and HE does have it worked out; Wouldn't it be nice if we could just let it go at that & trust in HIM, w/o stressing? I'm really praying for that gift.

Love,
Lynn

My favorite book was Husband Coached Childbirth by Robert Bradley. Also check out some of the links in the About Babies part of my sidebar.
